Today, is the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Miami Marlins and I will be hitting the road early today to go see the game. So naturally, this one will be short and sweet. Here are 5 classic tips to getting a homerun on your next mortgage:

1. If your credit isn’t great, get it there. With a little bit of work you can make dramatic improvements. – Always get professional advice on this and don’t just fix what you think needs fixing.
2. It’s not all about interest rate. I say it time and time again, it’s the best rate and cost that equal the best deal.
3. Be realistic about your homes value. A appraisal will always determine the actual value of your home but starting with a realistic number will prevent any major changes in your loan that you didn’t expect.
4. If you are thinking of buying a home and think you need 20% down you are dead wrong. There are many programs available with little money down and many resources available to help you with that down payment.
5. Be completely transparent on your loan application and throughout the entire loan process. Hiding information that your lender will find out anyway will only delay your mortgage and cause you some major headaches.
And of course make sure your lender of choice has what it takes to get your loan done with lots of experience and a business plan to get you the best possible deal. Those two don’t always go together!
